I bought a $12 CA HS-600 headset yesterday. The headphones work but the mic doesn't. It doesn't register on my Windows Voice Recorder or Counter Strike. Help me? |

I'm pretty sure we use an external SoundBlaster. We have two sound ports because one fried and my mom bought a new one. I plug my jacks into the second(new) soundcard and the headphones work, not the mic. I'm looking at my soundcard now and it just says a bunch of different numbers. |

I use soundblaster as well it should work when you plug it onto the soundcard port
and sme mic requires you to install some program... they should provide you with cd or something [BUT THAT'S JUST SOME MIC]
try install it or read instructions |

It was a 12 dollar mic with nothing more in it than a warranty card. Do some sound cards not let you use mic or something? |

No the mic's fine. If you know the sound program that your system uses like Realtek 97 or Realtek HD then download the latest plugins for it. Then go on your sound program. Hopefully you have something similiar to sound adjustments for mic record volume and mic transmit volume. Just crank everything to max. Don't mess with the equalizer though. |

You should go to control panel and switch it to classic view. From there you should see something related to a sound program besides the system volume control. |

It's not the mic, it's the settings in your computer. |
