Guide to Cross Line Sniping(Using AWP and Scout)

Alright, so during the last few practices you guys have noticed that with the AWP I'm almost un-killable.
It's not because I've practiced 30 hours on AWP.
It's not because I use sound(That much, I do a little but it's not my focus)
It's not because I hack.
It's because I use the most simple/effective way of sniping possible.
Some people critique it because they see it as camping, but let's face it guys. This is a war game. A sniper in real life wouldn't run out in the middle of a team of AKers and say "Surprise! Here's a bullet!"

The easiest way to Cross Line snipe is as follows.

Step 1: Figure out the most used route by your enemies on the map(Always look around you to counter a flank, just in case)
Step 2: Find a corner at which they HAVE to come around to get to you and set your scope on it.
-When you first start CL sniping you may want to be close enough to the corner to hear them comming around it, but after a while it's not neccesary.
Step 3: Place your cross hair at head level and about 3ms from the wall.
-Too close to the wall and they'll run right past your CH.
-Too far from the wall, and they may stop short and shoot you.(Damn SooKy always does that shit to me. lol)
Step 4: Sweep the area(still scoped) with about a 5m perimeter. Meaning, use A and D and walk side to side within your 5m range with your scope still open.

Given some practice, this is an honest, effective way to get 30+ kills in a game.

Now the defense.

Now say someone gets past you. Or someone baits the first person and there is a second that comes too quick for you to re-scope.

The easiest defense is repetition.
You're first instinct will be to stand your ground and try and shoot them.
But most of them time that doesn't work.
Either there's too many or they are spraying.
So the easiest thing to do is fall back.
Draw your knife and run like crazy to the closest corner you can find.
All you have to do is make it around the corner.
After that, CL snipe that corner and you should be golden.
It doesn't matter if they are 50ms, or 5ms behind you.
As long as you have time to scope the corner, you should be able to get them.

Good advice Lion, but like I've said before in another post, the chances of anyone being able to afford an awp in an official match is very very slim. We'll be using pistols/smgs/rifles most of the time so it'll make sense to master those skills first before we practice awping.

Btw, everything you've said is old news Very Happy

Being able to actually pull it out in a clutch, bomb defuse/plant, etc. is an entirely different story.

Good guide though, nonetheless.

Off topic and probably just saying this because I'm a weeee bit drunk right now, buttt, JuiCe do you remember that nasty ass kill I got with the bomb plant at Dust2? I quickscoped B00St, no scoped you and planted the bomb all within like 10 seconds. lol
I know B00St remembers because he was pissed about it.

Lol, if you say so. But, every other gun isn't quite that easy to master. And from your experience, especially automatics. Laughing

Yeah, I always end up getting pissed off and holding down the trigger. lol

See first thing you gotta learn is not to spray.

You gotta burst your bullets.

With a AK, my bursts are 1-3 bullets at the head or chest depending on range. The longer the range the lower you aim, but try not to aim any lower than chest height. Ak's primary recoil is vertical, so when bursting just bring your crosshair down a little.

With m4, my bursts are 2-4 bullets but you can aim at head height at all times because m4 has fair recoil compared to ak. But, m4's main recoil is its spread, which is recoil to the sides. When you burst, bring it down and to the right only very slightly.

Do not, under any circumstances, crouch while bursting. Move side to side a bit, but make sure you've stopped before you burst. Don't stop completely.

Spraying is only after you've got a feeling of how each gun recoils and of course after you've gotten good at bursting. Obviously spraying kills your opponent faster than bursting, so that's why you see pros spray instead of burst. Don't think you can do the same. You gotta master bursting before you move on to spraying.

My oppinion is this.
You're not good at AWPs unless you can use an AWP at any map.
Anyone can be good at a map where ALL you can use is AWPs.
So Tony, you need to practice your sniping skills AWAY from aim maps.
That way when we scrim you can be good at it any map they choose.

Yeah, I've noticed, you're just good period.
But you're too comfortable with awp maps. You have to get just as comfortable using an awp away from awp maps.
It took me a while to get used to it, but it's not that hard.

Not really. Lets just say awp maps are the same as trying to take out a whole team of awpers in long A in dust2. It's not easy especially when you got someone waiting for you on every corner.

And besides all it takes is one lousy shot to kill you as opposed to a rifle taking 3-5x that much. It's all the same basic principles over and over no matter which map you awp in:

React faster, aim better, outsmart, and outmanuveur your opponent.

You made some good points but think of it like this JuiCe.
In an AWP map there are only 5-6 places your enemies can be hiding and they are all right across from you.
That and everyone on the map is using an AWP.

In a map say like LongA Dust 2 or just Dust 2 period there is over a dozen places they could be.
That and you've got your mix of grenades, flashes, sprayers, snipers, machine gunners, campers, rushers, JuiCe sneaking behind Lion and knifing him in the back. Like an ass hole. (LOL).
You've got this whole mix of different things that could happen to you, where as AWP maps it's kind of cut and dry.
They are right across from you from start to finish.

Well that makes sense too. It does take more skills to awp in a bomb or hostage map, but it's always about being able to stay one step ahead of your opponent. If you can do that, then you've got your awping pretty much covered.

That's why I don't believe that a certain kind of map can really determine your skills. As long you're familiar with it, it's all good.
